Local Funeral – Cremation

Local Funeral CremationThinking about our deaths is not something we typically do. We tend to live life as we go. But we have to admit that one day our life will end and we will be leaving people we care about when that happen. With this knowledge it would be best to have everything ready once we reach the end of our earthly journey. This is when we consider having a pre-arranged funeral plan to relieve our love ones of the task of contacting a funeral home, buying the casket and what cemetery we are going to be buried.

Consider only what you need. These would be where you want your funeral to be held, your home or a funeral parlor, the casket or coffin and your burial place. There are several funeral plans are offered that will cover the casket and funeral service like the venue and the funeral car. For burial sites you can contact the cemetery of your choice to inquire on the price of their available lots. There are several cemeteries that also offer larger lots and mausoleums for a family burial site. But consider your budget. Large mausoleums are expensive so consider them carefully.

There is also the cremation service. If you wish to be in ashes and kept in a family urn then you can prepare for a cremation service. With this option you will be discarding the casket for an ash urn. Finding a funeral parlor to conduct the cremation is not much of a problem as most of them offer cremation as one of their services. You will not need a burial site as well. That means that a cremation could be a more cost effective choice for a pre-arranged funeral.

You may also want to consider setting aside funds for your funeral where there will be friends who would come and mourn with your family. Take note of everything. The goal is basically to have funds enough to cover funeral expenses leaving no more financial worries and burden behind for your love ones to handle. Another benefit for doing prearranged funeral plans is that you get to pay for future funeral expenses in their prices today. Cemetery lots are still real estates, so expect the prices to go up as years go by. The same can be said to the prices of the funeral services and coffins. Getting them several decades later could mean that you will have to pay twice more for them compared to this year or the next. So it is really advisable and sound to have prearranged funeral plans early on.

So start getting a funeral plan now. It would be best to canvass for cemetery lots. Contact a memorial park agent now to get a catalog of their cemetery lots and even go and see the memorial park itself. Compare prices from other memorial parks but consider the location as well. A more expensive memorial park would be better if it is more accessible to your family when the day comes compared to the cheaper ones.

Plan your own funeral service.

There are only two things certain in this world. One is that everyone has to die one day. The second one is that until you die, you have to live. Therefore, you should arrange the funds for your funeral while you are alive. This could save a lot of money for your surviving heirs. Naturally, they would thank you profusely.

Your religion plays an important role in whether you go for a burial or a cremation. In the US, the majority of people go for burials. Hence, we shall consider things from this aspect.

Choose the casket: This is an expensive part of your burial. While you are alive, you place an order for your casket setting aside a fixed sum of money for the same. Of course, you have to inform your family about the decision. Otherwise, you might end up having two caskets instead of one.

Better to have a vault: Though there is no hard and fast rule about a vault, you should have to book a vault to prevent the deterioration of the casket. This may cost you money. In case you have the dough to afford the vault, you should have it.

Invest in the cemetery costs: The cemetery charges are also quite high today. Some cemeteries have the provision of a perpetual care account. If there is one such facility, you should invest in one.

Arrange for the headstone: This is also an expensive affair with the costs hovering around $1000 today. It may go up by the time you breathe your last.

Other charges: You have other charges to incur in a funeral service. They are the charges of the priest, musicians, custodial fees, programs, printing of Mass cards, as well as food.

You can arrange for all the above-mentioned activities. You have to inform your family about the same. You can invest the money in a separate bank account to ensure that your relatives do not have to spend from their pocket.

One more thing you have to remember is to write your own obituary. You can plan the perfect words instead of relying on a third person. It would also be great if you have your epitaph written as well while you are alive. You can also ask some of your friends to plan for your eulogy. You give them sufficient time to write, edit, and rewrite if necessary.

This may sound silly at present, but arranging for you own funeral is always advisable. However, you would not be alive to check if it materializes or not. That might be the only disadvantage.
